Murcian Folklore in Early Childhood Education: Identity, Heritage and Didactics
Keywords:
Murcian folklore, Early Childhood Education, cultural heritage, regional identity, pedagogy.Abstract
Murcian folklore constitutes a fundamental dimension of the intangible cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia, encompassing traditions, music, dances, games, and oral expressions deeply rooted in community history. Despite its richness, the incorporation of regional folklore into Early Childhood Education has been minimally systematized, and its pedagogical potential remains underutilized. This article examines the role of Murcian folklore as an educational resource in Early Childhood Education, analyzing its value in the construction of cultural identity, the development of linguistic, social, and emotional skills, and its integration into the curriculum through meaningful learning experiences. The study is based on a bibliographic review of recent research on cultural heritage in education, children's folklore, and active pedagogies, alongside an analysis of Murcian cultural manifestations. The findings indicate that folklore can significantly contribute to contextualized education and the intergenerational transmission of cultural values at early ages.
